Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is a self administered therapy used to help relieve emotional distress or blocks , feeling stuck emotionally and the relief of physical pain. It is also referred to as tapping and is a form of psychological acupressure focussing on meridian points within our energy system to restore balance and harmony. Based on traditional acupuncture, meridian points are areas of the body kinetic energy flows through and restoring this energy balance can relieve symptoms a negative experience or emotion may have caused.
Tapping on these points sends signals to the part of the brain that controls stress and helps to ‘short circuit’ that stress response which may have been caused by a recent experience or one as long ago as childhood. In fact, most emotional issues can be traced back to a specific event in the person’s life and the body is very good at remembering this trauma and reactivating the stress response as soon as it is triggered. EFT can reduce the negative emotion you feel from a fear, phobia or past experience, in some cases permanently.
EFT is an evidence based self help therapeutic method and over 100 studies to date demonstrate its efficacy for anxiety, depression, PTSD, pain reduction and food cravings to name a few.
To date, I have worked with clients with anxiety, sleep difficulties, food cravings, low mood and lack of motivation, fear of flying, fear of driving on motorways, phobias of snakes and spiders and chronic back pain.
During a session you will learn all the tapping points by mirroring me and we will spend the time tapping on whatever issue you would like help to resolve. You may find one session is enough and you feel happy to use EFT as and when you need to in your daily life. However, many clients like to work more deeply into past experiences or emotions that are affecting their lives and find that a course of sessions are more beneficial. Often you will not know which is best for you until we complete the first session as this is when emotions can come up and are released that you may not have been aware were even there!
Emotional Freedom Technique can have a profound affect on your emotional wellbeing and can release emotions that have been stuck within your energy field for years. It has been a huge help to me in the past few years as I have navigated family bereavements and tapping regularly has allowed me to safely work through all the emotions that come up and clear them.
